Staff Accountant

Purpose: 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring all customers are billed accurately and in accordance with established monthly, quarterly and year end schedules.  This includes, but is not limited to weekly and monthly Amazon work order invoices, DHL monthly flights, USTRANSCOM military flights (both within the internal financial system and the military system), inter-company billings (including sub-services) and other ad-hoc billing as required.  S/he will serve as a point of contact to ensure ATI’s Prime system and Amazon’s WebFocus system are reconciled to ensure complete revenue recognition and accurate customer billing, by conducting monthly account reconciliations containing large volumes of transactions. This position will be responsible to review fuel and other invoices for correct general ledger coding and ensure accurate billing treatment and will work with Operations, suppliers, the parent company Accounts Payable department, etc. to resolve any discrepancies.  The staff accountant will prepare S1/S2 reports to support the USTRANSCOM military contract.  S/he will prepare and file all landing fee and parking reports on a monthly basis.  Other duties may include preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis and special projects as assigned.  This position will assist the Finance Manager with adhering to strong internal controls to be in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and may be required to assist in audits, including financial and the Defense Contract Audit.   The staff accountant will be a member of the ATI Finance Team and as such, confidentiality, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism are essential ingredients of performance.

 

Job Functions:

  • Generate weekly and monthly Amazon billing utilizing Amazon work orders

  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure all revenue is recognized

  • Generate all USTRANSCOM invoices in both the internal ATI financial system and the USTRANSCOM system.

  • Generate all other invoices including, but not limited to, monthly DHL flights, ABX sub-service flights, Atlas, adhoc charters, etc.

  • Research and resolve system discrepancies betweenlog pages, fuel tickets, Sabre, Prime and WebFocus to ensure accurate invoicing

  • Review invoices to ensure correct general ledger coding and resolve discrepancies with Operations, suppliers, etc.

  • Prepare and file all landing fee and parking reports

  • Prepare monthly S1/S2 reports for USTRANSCOM

  • Other financial duties as assigned to support ATI and ATSG objectives

     

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  
  • Must possess basic math skills, strong organization and analytical skills, and knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Access, and Word required.  
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, maintain a strong work ethic, and promote a cooperative work atmosphere. 
  • Must be able to function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management and with outside customers.

 

Preferred Job Skills:

  • Experience with SAP accounting a plus

  • Two (2) years accounting experience a plus

  • Previous airline of aviation experience a plus
